Junior Road Cyclist sensation, Annie Ewart, has joined the Pacific Cycling Centre under Head Coach, Houshang Amiri.

Ewart, a high school student from Victoria, BC, has racked up some impressive results since she started to ride competitively in 2007. She won four gold medals at the 2008 BC Summer Games; she placed first at the 2008 and 2009 Junior BC Provincial Road Championships, and was first in the 2009 Junior BC Provincial Time Trial Championship. In 2010 she was second in the ITT and Criterium in the Junior National Championships, and she was the first placed Junior at this year’s Women’s Elite Bastion Square Grand Prix. She also represented Canada at the Junior World Road Championships, in Offida, Italy where she placed 20th.

“I find Annie very committed, with an excellent work ethic and goal-oriented with great potential,” says Amiri. “We have no systematic approach to identifying talent in the province and in Canada, so when we find an athlete like Annie it is our duty to bring the talent to the surface and make her coaching a great journey and life experience.”

Ewart recently complete her first training camp at PCC. “Houshang’s commitment, support, and attention to detail is amazing. I had a great time, and I am looking forward to the next one.”

Her accolades include winning Cycling BC’s Cyclist of the Year Award — Road, U17 Female in 2008 and 2009. And her goals? “To continue as a member of Canada’s National Cycling program, win the 2011 Junior World Championships time trial in Copenhagen, Denmark, and compete successfully in international events building to and including the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.”
