The Pacific Cycling Centre is offering a free six week training program for cyclists interested in participating in a GranFondo this year. The program will train individuals for either the 90km or 140km distances.

A GranFondo has been a popular road race distance for many years in Europe, notably Italy where the term comes from — meaning long distance or great endurance. GranFondo’s can be competitive or recreational and usually hundreds take part in the event. It is the only time that you may see a pro-cyclist in the same race as a recreational 70-year-old! GranFondo’s are now common in North America and many are springing up in Canada, notably British Columbia where for most areas, cycling can be a year-round activity.
