Annie Ewart winning the ITT

Pacific Cycling Centre athlete Annie Ewart won the ITT in the Tour of Walla Stage Race. The three day event took place April 15-17.

Cycling with the Trek Red Truck Cycling Team, she recorded impressive results over the weekend in all of the events, despite the unseasonable cold weather. Ewart is still a junior, yet she competed in the Pro Cat 1-2 category. On the Saturday she took first place in the TT with a time of 23:08 (a 38.82 average kph). The TT was 9.3 miles with a 400ft gain and 50% downhill.
The same day she placed 9th in the criterium, a flat, 30 min urban course achieving an average speed of 39.3 kph. On the Sunday she was 5th in the road race, a two-lap, 64 mile, tough rolling course with a 2,400 ft gain. She was one second behind the winner and had an average speed of 32.3 kph.

Overall she came second in the GC and was the top female junior — a solid start to her season. PCC athlete Nic Vogler also competed in Walla Walla for her team Westwood Cycle/Canondale, and Spencer Smitheman (Hagens Berman) was in the men’s race.
