Pacific Cycling Centre’s first winter camp of the 2011-2012 season was held from November 2 — 6 in Victoria, BC. Attended by Svein Tuft, Max Plaxton, Erinne Willock, Annie Ewart, Rob Britton, Jamie Sparking, national team members and masters athletes, the five day camp was a great success, with daily rides, presentations and a gym session.

Led by Master Coach Houshang Amiri, the training camp focused on identifying training targets and building towards goals for the season. The camp had 15-18 riders over the five days, and each day there was a four-five hour endurance ride aimed at developing and improving base endurance and boosting aerobic capacity. With perfect conditions, the rides were held in the Peninsular and included hill climb’s, ITT’s and pace line techniques.

There were two presentations led by Svein Tuft and Erinne Willock. Svein shared some of his nutrition tips and Erinne focused on training and recovery. A dynamic, core stability gym session was also on the agenda, led by physiotherapist Rob Grace.

The next camp will be held from December 7 — 11. For more information, schedule and cost go to: www.pacificcyclingcentre.ca/camps/default.html.
