Annie Ewart and Svein Tuft had podium finishes at the Road Nationals last weekend, with Ewart having three and Tuft one – winning his 8th ITT title.

Ewart had a strong weekend finishing 2nd in the U23 Time Trial, and 2nd in the Criterium. She also had a good ride on the 106.8 km road race, finishing 2nd in the U23 category and ninth overall.

Tuft proved he is the best Canadian time trialist winning his 5th consecutive title and 8th overall in a time of 47:26 on the 39 km course. “Svein’s track record prioves he is the best Canadian time trail specialist when it comes to one-day time trialing in major competition,” said PCC Head Coach Houshang Amiri. “In order to have a podium performance on a one-day time trial in key competitions like a World Championship or Olympics, a cyclist requires specific training and preparation in the final 3-4 weeks to develop required speed, speed endurance and proper adaptations to the demand of the time trial race. Svein’s ability and determination is what we need to see from a world class time trialist”
