Svein Tuft made his mark on the Tour de White Rock last weekend with a first place finish in the Criterium and a fourth place in the road race. That made it three wins during BC Superweek for the eight-time Canadian National Time Trial Champion.

Tuft dominated the Tour de Rock Choices Market Criterium making an early break in the 60 lap race, lapping many riders and finishing in 1:08:54. He has won this criterium two times before, in 2006 and 2010. “I love this course, it's always a really difficult course and the kind of course a team can't control because it's so hard on the back stretch and always a bit of wind so you just got to put your head down,” Tuft told Canadian Cyclist.

The Peace Arch News Road Race was won by Tuft’s Orica GreenEDGE teammate Christian Meier.  Tuft came fourth but would have been a podium contender if he hadn’t suffered mechanical problems early on in the race. He made a strong attempt to catch the lead group once his bike was repaired, but he lost four minutes, which was hard to make up. “A few more laps I could have maybe caught them,” he said.
