Svein Tuft had his first podium result yesterday in the fourth stage of the Tour de San Luis in Argentina, when he won the 19.2 km time trial in 22:14.

As it was his first experience racing in Argentina, he prepared for the Tour by arriving early to acclimatize which he felt benefitted him. The course also was to his advantage. “It was a wide open highway-type course and included two roundabouts and a couple corners,” he said “The wind was a bit difficult going out, and the downhill sections were super fast. It’s definitely a course made for me.”

It was the first international victory for Tuft’s team ORICA-GreenEDGE in this their  second season. “This is a really great race to start out the year,” said Tuft. “It’s not super high stress, but it is super high quality. Everyone is here to race their bikes. For January, it’s a really good race. I’m glad the team decided to race here this year.”
