Cycling Canada has announced that Svein Tuft will be going to Glasgow for the XX Commonwealth Games. Will Routley from Whistler will also be going. The Games take place from July 23 - August 3.

Tuft will compete in the time trial and the road race, while Routley will be in the road race. Tuft  won silver at the time trial World Championships in 2008, and is a multiple national time trial champion. He also wore the pink leader’s jersey in this year’s Giro d’Italia after helping his Orica-GreenEDGE teammates to victory in the opening stage team time trial. A Cycling Canada press release stated that "the additions to the team came about after Commonwealth Games Canada informed Cycling Canada it would be possible to add two athletes to the cycling quota, provided they were medal contenders." This means that the Canadian team now has both road and TT specialists.

The road race and time trial will be held July 31st and August 3rd.
