PCC coached athlete Holly Simonson celebrated her first year riding in the U23 category with a win at the Criterium at Race the Ridge in Maple Ridge on Sunday. It was also her first time riding in category 1-2.

Cycling with the Trek Red Truck team, Holly was thrilled with the result: “The team did everything in our plan really well. We all rode so aggressively and I would say controlled the race completely. About a 15 minute solo effort off the front for me proved to be some of my hardest riding ever. My first race win feels pretty good! It is also just so nice to know the training has been working! I've never felt so comfortable in a Crit before, totally staying with the pack and moving around to get positions and hold a spot near the front, and then still being able to chase down other teams' chase attempts, or to counter attack after one of my teammates was absorbed. And then to have the legs to hold the gap and take the win after all that was kind of shocking to me!”

Congratulations Holly.
