Pacific Cycling Centre (PCC) provides coaching and training services for Elite, Masters, and Junior athletes in road, mountain bike, track, and cyclo-cross. Located in Canada’s top cycling climate of Victoria, BC we train our athletes year-round in a one-on-one and group settings and through training camps. We also have a number of distance athletes. It is largely due to PCC that Victoria has become the most successful training environment in Canada. On a regular basis, through its development program, PCC has trained home-based riders, many of whom have gone on to National team programs.
Victoria has many advantages. Its moderate climate allows for uninterrupted, year-round riding. It has good roads, with varied terrain and little traffic compared to Canada’s more densely populated urban centres. Victoria also has a velodrome, a world-class BMX track and is home to the Canadian National Mountain Bike Team. Many athletes relocate to Victoria to take advantage of the temperate climate.
Houshang Amiri, owner and head coach, has trained numerous athletes to World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games in road, mountain bike track and Paralympics disciplines. He has won many coaching excellence awards and achieved the highest level of coaching certification in Canada for cycling. He is in high demand as a UCI Coach, visiting countries to deliver coaching courses, in keeping with the IOC and UCI’s commitment to develop the sport of cycling world-wide.
For PCC athletes training in Victoria a variety of facilities and training options are available including several weight centres, physiological testing, an outdoor track, and some of the best cycling roads in all of Canada. We also train in Burnaby, BC in their first-class velodrome.
Many of our athletes are based in Victoria, BC, but we also have several athletes based around Canada and the US. Our athletes are highly mobile, attending racing events primarily around North America and Europe. Pacific Cycling Centre athletes have a track record of achieving podium finishes at competitive, national and international events.
A new generation of athletes is now emerging at PCC. These athletes have achieved over 50 National and Provincial Championship medals including nine National champion titles and 20 Provincial champion titles. In 2018 PCC won four Cycling BC awards – Coach of the Year, Elite Female Sportsperson of the Year, Elite Male Sportsperson of the Year, and Master Male Sportsperson of the Year.
PCC’s goal is to create a training environment for athletes at the development level, and to maintain a permanent, high-performance training group of national team and pre-national team athletes at the Centre with the appropriate coaching and support system. This will be achieved through expert one-on-one coaching, focused training camps, and competing in many local, provincial and national races.
