“Shortly after I resumed to training I became exposed to Houshang's coaching style. It was evident that he cared for each of his athletes.”

Pacific Cycling Centre athletes Devon Smibert and Brian Cowie took a bronze medal at the UCI Paracycling Track World Championships last weekend in Manchester, England.

Smibert and Cowie were competing in the B & VI 4000m Pursuit. The pair was fourth in the qualifying event beating out fellow Canadians Chalifour and Dionne. They lined up against Spain in the final in a tense competition where both teams were neck and neck for half of the race. Smibert and Cowie then took control and took the bronze medal by just 1.3 seconds.

“Finally winning a medal at the World Championships was a great accomplishment for us after missing out on the Bronze in 2006, with me having a broken hand in 2007, and then narrowly missing the finals in Beijing,” said Smibert. “It was truly rewarding to finally get on the podium.”
