PCC Athlete Qualifies for UCI Tour

July 23, 2012

Pacific Cycling Centre Masters athlete, Renate Walton, has qualified for the UCI World Cycling Tour, to be held in South Africa from August 23-26. She qualified based on her performance at the Valley First Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan, held on July 8.

Renate started riding in 2006 with the Cross-Canada Cycle Tour Society. From 2008-2010 she competed in the Seniors games. In 2011, having decided she wanted to compete more competitively, she contacted Houshang Amiri at PCC and has never looked back.

“Houshang is absolutely fantastic. I completed the 140K Tour de Victoria and then the 160K Valley First Granfondo. I also competed in several of the Master races this year,” she said. “I could not have ridden either the Tour de Victoria or the Valley First Granfondo without the awesome coaching and support that I receive from Houshang.”
