The Axel Merckx Youth Cycling Series was held in Victoria, BC this past weekend – the second year that this camp has come to Vancouver Island.

The three-day camp was well attended with 48 participants ranging from U13 – U19, all with different and varied skills and abilities. Guest speaker was Ron Hayman who talked about his race experiences during the Saturday lunch break.

Coaches from Victoria and Vancouver volunteered their time including Pacific Cycling Centre Head Coach, Houshang Amiri. “I volunteered over 15 hours during the camp and it was a great opportunity to work with young athletes,” Amiri said. “I would like to thank Axel for creating this opportunity for the athletes who were able to learn from an array of coaching expertise.”
