Houshang Amiri Delivers UCI Course

(Victoria, BC – July 25, 2013) Pacific Cycling Centre’s Head Coach, Houshang Amiri recently returned from Trinidad and Tobago where he delivered a UCI Level 2 coaching course to the cycling federation.

He was in Trinidad and Tobago for 10 days presenting a Road/TT and Track course that included theory and practice. The UCI Level 2 coaching course is an advanced course designed for National Team Coaches (similar to NCCP Level 3). Sixteen coaches took part working in groups with each group designing a 6-8 week training program including: strength programs and nutrition based on yearly training plans for one of the targeted athletes they coach.

As a UCI Expert Coach Amiri is in demand as a coach and often goes to countries that are developing cycling programs. Funded by the IOC and UCI, the mission of these organizations is to develop the sport of cycling all over the world.

Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation sent a very small team to the 2013 Pan Am Junior Championships and won two silver medals.
