Micaiah Besler and Holly Simonson on the podium

Seven PCC athletes took part in the 2018 Western Challenge at the Burnaby Velodrome last weekend. This popular annual track event welcomes athletes from British Columbia (Vancouver and Victoria), Alberta, Saskatchewan, Oregon and Washington State.

Coming off a successful road training camp the weekend before, Chris MacLeod, Colin Fowlow, Holly Simonson, Erik Diertens and Aedan Crocker from Victoria attended, and Micaiah Besler and Caleb Bender from Saskatchewan.

“This was a good opportunity for the athletes to prepare early for the Canadian Junior Track Nationals in early April,” said PCC head coach Houshang Amiri.

PCC athletes did well and saw some podiums. Micaiah and Holly came 2nd and 3rd in the Elite/ U19 Women’s Omnium, and in the U19 Men’s Omnium Caleb came 3rd.

“I saw a great improvement in PCC coached riders from BC and Saskatchewan, and I am happy to see where PCC riders are, especially the juniors, in their preparation for the season,” added Amiri.
