PCC riders excelled at the Hayman Classic: the 2015 BC Youth Road Championships last weekend in Penticton, BC. With riders from BC, Alberta, Manitoba and the Yukon there was tough competition over the two days.

Mark Grant won the U17 BC Champion title in the ITT and road race, and placed second in the Criterium. In the U19 ITT Chris Macleod came 8th followed by a 10th place in the Criterium and the next day, a 9th place finish in the road race. Also in the U19, James Grant was 10th in the ITT, 6th in the Criterium and 10th in the road race. Eloi Batista was 16th in the ITT and 12th in the road race.

In the U19 women’s category Caillie Swan was 6th in the ITT, 4th in the Criterium, and 6th in the road race.

PCC athletes in the Dr. Walker Sports Chiropractor Team also did well. Mel Tremble (U17) came 3rd  in the ITT and in the road race. Erik Diertens (U17) was 4th in the ITT, 1st in the Criterium and 2nd in the road race. Erik was also awarded the BC Premier Series leaders jersey in U17 men for his overall points lead in the youth series across BC.

These impressive results bode well for the next two major competitions in Victoria, the Robert Cameron Law Cycling Series from June 5-7, and Trackfest June 19-21.
